Our client wanted to make this ship’s voyage look perilous to aid in a comparison to the perils of navigating the health care system. We used traditional hand-drawn animation and a heavily inked, colored comic book style for the two-spot package.

This spot was an unusual production in that the characters were all produced using traditional oil paints on cold-press illustration board. The 2D character art was then scanned and composited into the animated backgrounds. Digital “averaging” was used to give the final spot a softer look.
